3. Upstage Downstage

1) Write the following stage directions on nine separate pieces of paper.
2) Fold each piece of paper and place them all in a hat.
3) Joan pulls out a stage direction from the hat.
4) All the students must quickly move to the area that Joan calls. For example:

 Cross to stage left

Cross FROM downstage LEFT ...

                                   ...TO upstage RIGHT

3. The Line Up Game

Joan separates everyone into teams. 5 or 6 per team is the ideal number! Joan is the caller. He calls out "Everyone please now line up ..." and fills in the blank with a new statement. All the players race to find the right order and shout when they are finished.

Everyone please now line up in order of age, oldest at the front, youngest at the back
Everyone please now line up in first name alphabet order
Everyone please now line up by height, shortest first
Everyone please now line up according to your birthdays - first in the year goes first
Everyone please now line up according to who served themselves dinner first
How many cousins have you got? Line up with the least cousins in front
What colour is your top? Line up in alphabetical order with the earliest letter first
Most hair at the back, least hair at the front

3. Zombie Name

1. Stand in a circle.

2. Joan goes around the circle having each kid loudly say his/her name as a zombie. (“Saaaarrraaaaahhhhh!”)
3. Joan chooses one student to be the “zombie”. The “zombie” walks in the middle of the circle zombie-style; arms stretched in front, head to the side.
4. Joan calls a student’s name. The zombie heads toward that student.

5. The student must try to call another student’s name before the zombie reaches him/her.
6. If the zombie is able to tag the student before he/she can call a new name, that person becomes the zombie.

2. The Number Game

The Number Game helps actors develop their listening  skills.

Everyone stands in a circle and counts off, remembering their number.

The last person begins saying someone else's number, who then calls another else's number and so on.

WHEN YOU HEAR YOUR NUMBER, SAY SOMEONE ELSE'S NUMBER.

                              

RULES

1. No pausing. 

If you wait too long, you're out.

2. Don't say your own number. 

If you do, you're out.

3. Don't say a number nobody has.

4. When you're out, 

you go to the last place in the circle and become the last number.
